My Priorities

Wellesbourne Airfield

Safeguard the future of Wellesbourne Airfield and support proposals which enhance the flying functions of the airfield and protect the associated jobs.

Protecting Communities

Maintain the high level of community safety and address rural crime issues.  Tackling anti-social behaviour is a priority for the Safer South Warwickshire Community Partnership.
Stratford-on-Avon District Council works in partnership with the police, registered social landlords and other local agencies to resolve incidents that are reported.

Road Safety

Work closely with Cllr Penny-Anne O'Donnell our Warwickshire County Councillor to improve road safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists with a priority focus on traffic speed, flow and parking. Particular concerns include the A429, Charlecote Road, Ettington Road, Kineton Road, Newbold Road and through the villages.

Business and the Economy

Building and nurturing a thriving, innovative and inclusive economy is essential.  This means working with our partners to ensure that Stratford-on-Avon District is an excellent place to live, work, learn, visit and invest.

Housing

Support local housing needs and ensure the right mix of new homes are built including affordable homes to rent with the right infrastructure.

Healthcare

Improving the health and wellbeing of all residents is essential and we are fortunate to have the enlarged and modern Hastings House Medical Centre in Wellesbourne which was delivered as a key benefit of the housing development in Ettington Road.

Climate Emergency

We will do all we can locally to contribute to national carbon reduction targets, fulfil our aim to becoming a carbon-neutral District by 2030 and support measures to adapt to the impact of climate change.  This is likely to involve making difficult decisions along the way as greater emphasis is given to renewable energy.

Waste and Recycling

We are committed to reduce waste that goes to landfill and to increase the proportion of waste that is recycled or composted. Stratford-on-Avon District Council, in partnership with its contractor Biffa Municipal Limited.  This includes a new weekly food waste collection; fortnightly refuse, dry recycling and garden waste collection plus a three weekly waste to landfill collection to households across the district.

Environmental Health and Licensing

Protecting and enhancing the local environment is extensive and involves wide ranging disciplines including air quality management, public health, licensing and food hygiene. The team also respond to nuisance complaints including noise, smoke, light and odour, pest control, drains and drainage, flooding and pollution prevention and control.

Broadband

Increase the level and quality of highspeed broadband in the villages
